THNOC welcomes school children of all ages. Customized field trips—which could include docent-led tours, special lectures, and guided visits to our research center—will bring the region’s history to life for students. The field trips are available free of charge. We will not accomodate unscheduled field trips.

We offer field trips Tuesday through Friday, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. To schedule a field trip, please fill in the online form

Large buses are not allowed within the French Quarter. There are usually spots for buses to park on the 300 block of Bienville Street (between Decatur Street and the river). Please note this block is one-way and must be approached from Conti Street.

There is no fee to schedule a field trip with The Historic New Orleans Collection.

No food or drink is allowed in the galleries. If your group will be eating lunch while in the French Quarter, we suggest taking them to Jackson Square or Woldenberg Park (on the Mississippi River levee).

Please instruct students about proper behavior in museums before they arrive. Please explain that this means no touching, running, or loud voices.
