Each year the Bill Russell Lecture at The Historic New Orleans Collection shines a spotlight on the early jazz scene in New Orleans. For the 2020 program, the celebrated historian and clarinetist Dr. Michael White and his Original Liberty Jazz Band will combine live performance and lecture to explore the Afro-Latin rhythms from Cuba and the West Indies that influenced Jelly Roll Morton and subsequent generations of jazz musicians. Registration will open at a later date. This program is sponsored by the Derbes Foundation.
