Large musical ensembles featuring brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments date back to the Age of Revolutions, and were often used for military, ceremonial, or festive purposes. In the United States, community bands have grown to be an important outlet for intergenerational creativity, with more than 1,000 active ensembles across America—and New Orleans is no exception!
The Historic New Orleans Collection is excited to present a special holiday concert at St. Louis Cathedral, featuring festive favorites and New Orleans-centric repertoire performed by the New Orleans Concert Band and special guest performers, led by Music Director Dr. Charles Taylor.

About New Orleans Concert Band
Founded in 1975 by Peter Dombourian, New Orleans Concert Band is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free and public concerts by volunteer musicians to the Greater New Orleans region. Its mission is to encourage and foster adult concert community, municipal, and civic bands, and promote the performance of traditional and contemporary literature for band of the highest quality. Led by Dr. Charles Taylor, Director of University of New Orleans' School of the Arts, the band rehearses weekly and presents free performances year-round across the Greater New Orleans region.
