October 26, 2019
10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Peaches Records, 4318 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA
Admission is free, and registration is not required.

Join us for an exploration of THNOC’s newest curriculum, NOLA Resistance. It’s based on a brand new oral history program that features the stories of activists who led the local Civil Rights Movement during the 1960s. We’re holding this workshop at Peaches Records because the store was formerly the site of a Woolworth’s department store and still has an original lunch counter, much like the ones that served as a focal point for student-led sit-ins around the South.
We’ll walk participants through our new and easy-to-navigate online lesson plan format, share multimedia resources, and give away zip drives loaded with educational material. This workshop is free and doesn’t require registration. Workshop attendees are invited to stick around for a free concert from the Soul Rebels Brass Band at 1 p.m. to celebrate the release of their new album. Please contact Kendric Perkins (KendricP@hnoc.org / (504) 556-7690) with any questions.
