Emilie Rhys, a local artist who draws live musical performances and runs the Scene By Rhys Art Gallery on Toulouse Street, will discuss the process of visually interpreting music in an illustrated interview with Eric Seiferth, curator of Giants of Jazz. The daughter of noted artist Noel Rockmore, Rhys will explore the different approaches and visual styles of Rockmore’s Preservation Hall paintings, Świerzy’s expressive lithography, and her energetic works that capture the spirit of music—especially those created during performances in Preservation Hall. After the interview, guests are invited to ask questions of their own.

Following the discussion, the Preservation All-Stars will perform a set in THNOC’s courtyard from 7 to 8 p.m., and Rhys will create a live drawing. This program is presented in conjunction with THNOC’s exhibition Giants of Jazz, which will be open from 5 to 8 p.m.

Note: Limit four reservations per person. Reservations will be held until five minutes prior to the start of the program. Any reserved seats unclaimed at that time will be released to the public.
