On Saturday, June 15, residents of Central City are invited to a community event for The Historic New Orleans Collection’s exhibition Art of the City: Postmodern to Post-Katrina, presented by The Helis Foundation. Hosted by Café Reconcile, Central City Day will allow participants to engage with THNOC staff, take part in a community art project, and board a free bus to the exhibition in the French Quarter. At the exhibition, visitors will see art projects made by students from the Youth Empowerment Project in Central City and speak one-on-one with artists in the exhibition (including Carl Joe Williams, whose work is pictured on a banner outside of Café Reconcile).

The event is free and open to the public, and registration is not required. Light refreshments will be served, and a bus will run constantly between Café Reconcile and the French Quarter from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. The last bus will leave the French Quarter at 4:30 p.m. Minors must be accompanied by a caregiver to board the bus.
