Surrounded by Water: New Orleans, the Mississippi River & Lake Pontchartrain
This year’s program celebrates The Collection’s exhibition Surrounded by Water and the importance of preserving Louisiana’s wetlands. The day will feature music by the Lost Bayou Ramblers, live wetland creatures, arts and crafts projects, and demonstrations from the U.S. Coast Guard and National Park Service. Former riverboat captain Clarke “Doc” Hawley will lend his expertise in the exhibition gallery, and Mark Twain will even make an appearance and share his tales of life on the river. The Estuarians of Save America’s Wetlands and Boudreaux D. Nutria from the New Orleans Zephyrs will also be present.
Family Day is free and open to the public. View the complete schedule of events. For more information, call (504) 523-4662.
